MUSICAL OPPORTUNITIES AT GRACE

     There are a number of musical opportunities for those with a desire to contribute to the ministries conducted here.  All are welcome to participate.  During a recent re-visioning process that a number of regular worshipers participated in, it was agreed that music has always had an important role at Grace and that we wanted to continue that tradition.  Some of the current opportunities are listed below.

SENIOR CHOIR

 Our Senior Choir currently consists of 15-20 dedicated singers who enjoy sharing their vocal abilities. They serve as the music leaders for the 8:30 AM Sunday worship service.  The group meets to practice on Wednesday evenings with the Director of Music at 7:30 PM for about an hour.  They also meet about 30 minutes before the Sunday service to go over the  music for the day.

PRAISE MUSICIANS

The Praise Musician Group is a committed team of vocal and instrumental musicians of all ages who serve as music leaders for the 11:00 AM Sunday (10:00 AM in summer) blended worship service.  The group meets every other Monday evening at 6:30 PM for about an hour to practice with the Director of Music.  They also meet on Sunday, between services, to practice.  If you have a desire to share your talents with this group, speak to the Pastor or Director of Music.

BRASS ENSEMBLE

This group has a long history of providing special music before and during special services throughout the year.  It is traditionally an intergenerational group that welcomes high school musicians along with more experienced amateur and professional players.  Lay members provide leadership for this group.  The Christmas season often provides a good opportunity for college students to reconnect with the group and share their talents in a performance leading up to one or more of the Christmas Eve services.

CHILDREN'S CHOIRS

Our younger children have a chance to share their music, most often for the later service.  They are led by the Director of Music with the assistance of Pastor and lay leaders.  They gather for about 30 minutes to learn and practice on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings during the school year.  Join the group following supper and The Open Door.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES

Our annual Vacation Bible School always incorporates music into its daily program.  Lay leaders are always welcome to help teach the special music that usually comes with the prepared program materials selected each year for this energizing week of faith building with ages nursery through 6^th grade.

During most of the summer season the Senior Choir takes a break but their voices are sometimes replaced by a “pick-up” group that limits practice to the time before the early service.  Other times individuals or small groups that graciously share their talents with the assembled worshipers replace them.
